I attended a luncheon today where the featured speaker was Dr. Devin Stephenson, President of Northwest Florida State College. Four key points from his talk that I wanted to share:
1. Be confident and open. Avoid arrogance it closes minds.
2. Be compassionate yet have high expectations raising the bar to reach for the best. Refuse to drown in mediocrity.
3. Couple curiosity with decisiveness. Refrain from paralysis by analysis
4. Be a person always in pursuit and celebrate victories. But, celebrate only as long as it fuels the pursuit. Don't celebrate yourself into a stupor or complacency.
- Bonus -
If you aren't already where you are going mentally, you are not going to be there when you arrive. Orient yourself around being visionary accepting no norm.
